Life Scout to Eagle Scout is the most difficult advancement step in the Scouting America
program. It requires an additional 10 merit badges beyond what is required for Life rank, a position of responsibility within the troop, and of course, the most daunting requirement of all, the Eagle Scout Service project. In an effort to help the Scouts in my District and Council, we have assembled a timeline and checklist of both the Eagle Scout service project, and the Eagle Rank application process.
While the document is written for Suffolk County Council, the major components of the timeline are the same for all councils. You should check with your own council on how paperwork, Eagle applications, and Eagle Boards of Review are handled. These procedures are up to each Council, and there are some differences. Nevertheless, the key milestones are the same.
The document is literally a checklist. Just check the box when you are finished with one item, and move on to the next! You can download it here.
“Oh, the possibilities!”
